Climb Cerro Eléctrico

 2 Days
 Elevation gain 1700 meters
 Very difficult: training required
 1 - 3 people per guide

Detailed program

We will drive very early in the morning to Río Eléctrico (10 miles). From there, we will start hiking on the trail to “Piedra del Fraile” for the first 30min, and then we´ll head up off the trail trough a dry canyon and steep slope , until we reach the base of the Glacier. The terrain is very steep, and usually requires the use of crampons and rope at some point. Once at the Glacier, we will put on crampons and continue the ascent with a rope up to the summit of Cerro Eléctrico (2257m). The views of Fitz Roy and Piedras Blancas Glacier from the shoulder and the summit are astonishing! After a lunch break and photos, we´ll head back the same way to Río Eléctrico and drive to El Chaltén. The activity takes about 12 hours, with a vertical gain of 1700 meters and slopes between 30º-35º.

The Itinierary proposed could be done in two days, with one night camping at the Base of the Glacier, this way you´ll climb 500m on “Day 1” and 1200m on “Day 2”.
