We will take the Laguna Toro trailhead from the National Park Visitor Center. After one hour hiking we´ll get to the first lookout point: our first stop, with good views to Mounts Fitz Roy, Torre and Huemul. From there we´ll traverse over the “Pampa de las Carretas”, where we take a detour towards the Pliegue Tumbado lookout direction. Once above the timberline (approximately 1000 meters or 3280 feet a/s/l), you may find some fossils such as ammonites and belemnites (only for watching!).
The Pliegue Tumbado is an alternative trail which offers you a great panoramic view of both Cerro Torre and Mount Fitz Roy, as well as not-so-common perspectives to Cerro Solo, Cerro Huemul and the sky-blue inmensity of Viedma Lake. This trek has also the advantage of being off the beaten track, so you could have a better experience in contact with the nature. In the afternoon we´ll head back to El Chaltén by the same trail.
The activity will take about 7-8 hs.
